    Texas facing a heat wave and two days of severe storms

    HOUSTON ( KIAH ) – Temperatures are heading for the 100s in South and Southwest Texas. Meanwhile, in Houston, the humidity will make upper 80s almost feel like 100 for a couple of days.

    The hottest temperatures, likely topping 105 in some areas, will be along the Rio Grande River. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 107 for Laredo Wednesday, then 109 on Thursday.

    At the same time, Central and North Texas will be on the lookout for severe storms . Wednesday’s severe weather outlook suggests it could be a third consecutive tornado outbreak day, centered around the Middle Mississippi River Valley region.

    The severe risk shifts farther south, generally along and north of I-10, on Thursday. That’s when a cold front moves in from the north with isolated strong storms Thursday and Thursday night.
