    Houston sales tax revenue down compared to last year in April

    Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants during April was down compared to a year ago, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

    A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $78,422.28 for the month of April. That’s up $790.57 from the same period a year ago.

    A one-cent general sales tax totaled $79,927.55. That’s a decrease of $112.86 from the same period last year.

    Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $19,606 in the month of April. That’s up $197.64 from the same period last year.

    A use tax applied to out-of-state internet orders totals $13,568.15 for the month. That’s down $6,721.45 from the same period last year.
