HORSEHEADS, N.Y. ( WETM ) – The Chemung County Health Department and the SPCA will be offering a free rabies vaccine clinic next weekend in Horseheads.

The clinic will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Chemung County Fairgrounds under the grandstands and is open to all New York state residents who need to get their pets vaccinated for rabies, as required by New York State law.

Cats, dogs and ferrets that are three months or older are eligible to be vaccinated at the clinic.

All pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier and under the control of a responsible adult. It is recommended that owners bring only one pet per adult.

Dog owners should be prepared to clean up after their pets in case of an accident and cat owners that do not have carriers should talk to clinic staff before getting their animal out of their vehicle.
