Kaua‘i firefighters called to action in Puhi early morning warehouse fire

HONOLULU (KHON2) — An early morning structure fire called Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters to action in Puhi.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Līhu‘e station firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene to find a two-story warehouse on fire.

KFD said crews from Kōloa, Kalāheo and Kapa‘a fire stations, as well as the on-duty battalion chief and Fire Prevention Bureau, assisted in responding to the incident.

Reports said fire officials knocked the fire down from the second floor to the first floor. Firefighters found that the second floor partially collapsed and proceeded to address the situation.

Officials extinguished flames on the second floor before ensuring they did not reach other areas of the structure.

According to KPD, the scene was cleared just after 6 a.m.

After investigation, Kaua‘i Fire Prevention Bureau inspectors determined the warehouse to suffer $500,000 in damage to both the structure and its contents. The cause fo the fire has yet to be determined.
