Homestead, FL - A South Florida man is in jail on attempted murder charges after attacking his girlfriend with a knife during a dispute over money.

Police say 31-year-old Charles Davis allegedly attacked his girlfriend during an argument over money on Saturday afternoon.

The argument began when Davis reportedly demanded $3,000 from his girlfriend.

Things quickly turned violent, with police alleging Davis struck the victim repeatedly before grabbing a kitchen knife.

Davis’ arrest report states that the 31-year-old inflicted a minor wound on the victim with the knife and used it to threaten her further.

Fearing for her safety, the victim managed to escape the residence and contact the police.

Officers arrived to find Davis in a highly agitated state and resisting arrest.

A Taser was used to subdue Davis before he was transported to Homestead Baptist Hospital for evaluation.

Due to his aggressive behavior, hospital staff deemed him unfit for questioning by detectives.

Following his release from the hospital, Davis was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) on charges of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and battery.

Authorities have not disclosed the reason behind Davis' alleged demand for money.
