A Michigan cop who was caught on camera going on a racist rant and dropping slurs got a new job with a police department, according to a new report from WXYZ . Reporters revealed that Greg Marohn resigned from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office following an internal misconduct investigation. Years after he left the agency, he was hired by the Holly Police Department.

Dash camera footage shows Marohn sending a text-to-voice message from his phone to a man on December 4, 2020. The deputy admitted to purchasing Schedule 2 narcotics from this individual without a prescription while on duty, the report states. The deputy passed a "dark-skinned woman" walking her dog during his drive, and that's when he started his disturbing rant.

“(Expletive) you (expletive). Little evil (expletive). Imagine this (expletive),” Marohn said in the video, per WXYZ . “Imagine this (expletive) monkey, or whatever you are, Hispanic, or (n-word). They live in a nice house and think that they’re something."

Marohn confessed to meeting with the man while in uniform, telling investigators he did this 10 times while on duty. These actions, coupled with his racial remarks , led to the sheriff's office recommending his termination. A report to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards revealed he “resigned in lieu of termination” for “conduct unbecoming."

Marohn joined the Holly Police Department in March 2022. He resigned months later after a blood test found he tested positive for buprenorphine, a drug that treats opioid addiction, and another undisclosed drug, police officials learned. The officer reportedly didn't disclose those prescriptions to his superiors.

“He was a good officer,” Holly Police Chief Jerry Narsh said about Marohn, per WXYZ . “He treated the people of Holly and the staff here with respect.”

According to Narsh, Marohn told him he was forced out of the sheriff's office for "poor driving history." The police chief claims there weren't red flags in Marohn's background check and took the former deputy's word. Narsh told reporters he wasn't aware of Marohn's racist rant.

Reporters found Holly police didn't conduct a complete background investigation into Marohn before hiring him. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office also confirmed Holly police never contacted them about the former deputy's previous behavior.

Marohn isn't working as a police officer for any law enforcement agency as of Tuesday, May 30, according to the news station.
