HINTON, WV (WVNS) — It is National Small Business Week and the perfect time to get out and help your local small businesses.

Hinton Outfitters is one such business.

They have been open a little under two years and have been successful so far.

Owners Kathy Mills and Lee Ann Goins are sisters who wanted their store to represent their hometown.

They say that being in a small town has its challenges.

“People have forgotten that you can spend a good afternoon or a Saturday, you know, walking around, shopping, browsing. So the foot traffic isn’t there that we would like to see,” said Mills.

Goins followed up with how they’ve thrived despite the lack of foot traffic, “Word of mouth, too, is a big deal, but what’s really interesting is that the travelers that come, most of them have already seen us on Facebook.”

The sisters feels that in order to promote their business, all of the small businesses in Hinton need promotion.

They hope to get together with several of the other local business owners before next year’s National Small Business Week in order to take advantage of the event and plan something that benefits all the small businesses in town.

Hinton Outfitters is located at 221 Temple St, Suite 1 in Hinton.
