Mason Crockett hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs, while Gage Nicholson struck out 11 as Carroll County defeated Grayson County 10-2 on April 22 at Bill Worrell Field in Hillsville.

Crockett cracked a two-run double in the fourth inning and belted a three-run homer in the fifth to lead Carroll (9-2, 3-3 Three Rivers District) in the non-district affair. Nicholson allowed four hits and two runs in five innings to pick up the win. He only walked one while fanning 11. Slade Quesenberry struck out three in two innings of hitless relief.

Ben Phillips’ RBI single highlighted a two-run first inning as the Cavaliers pulled in front 2-1. Britt Berrier doubled, leading to another Carroll run in the third.

After Hart’s leadoff single and Cody Reece walked in the fourth, Crockett drove them both home with a double to right field. Lance Burnett and Hart both walked in the fifth, and both scored on Crockett’s three-run dinger to left center. Hart added an RBI single in the sixth.

Nicholson helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-2 and scoring a run. Maddox Lyons scored twice and contributed a hit. Hart went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Reece and Phillips both added a hit each, with Phillips driving in a run and Reece scoring a run.
