Galax, Carroll receive Tobacco Commission grants
Two local and two regional projects were among 11 in Southwest Virginia that were approved earlier this month by the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission. The commission uses funding from the settlement of federal lawsuits against tobacco companies. The money is used to help the economies of the Southwest and Southside regions of Virginia, which were affected the most by the downturn in the tobacco industry.
