Hillside Avenue Historic District Association Participates in National Historic Marker Day
PLAINFIELD, NJ — National Historic Marker Day, created by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, is a service-oriented event that brings people and communities together to maintain markers by cleaning them. The event is held the last Friday of April each year, offering an annual opportunity to celebrate and preserve history. According to The Historical Marker Database, there are more than 195,000 markers in the US, many of which are in need of cleaning.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Recently, the Hillside Avenue Historic District Association (HAHDA) in Plainfield participated in the National Historic Marker Day, where members cleaned and repainted four all-wood markers along Hillside Avenue between April 23rd and 27th. They determined that one additional marker is in need of refurbishment or replacement, which will be discussed at their next meeting. The following members participated in the activity: Virginia Carroll, Professor Bernard, Michael Gagliotti, Linda Kruse, Ann Rosen, and Ross Rosen. Members, together with HADHA's president William J. NYC man stabs three relatives during family dispute, barricades himself inside home: cops
A 31-year-old Queens man is in custody after allegedly stabbing three relatives near his Ozone Park home during a violent Saturday night family squabble — then barricaded himself inside, according to police and sources. Vinny Dagga was eventually taken into custody and charged with assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon following the 8:30 p.m. incident outside 133-43 Lefferts Boulevard that left two of the victims hospitalized, cops said. NYPD: Two people arrested on Staten Island after traffic violation, interfering with arrest

Police officers shot and killed a Brooklyn man who was seen pointing a gun at another man in the street overnight in East Flatbush.
