Cheyenne man arrested after assaulting deputy during arrest
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Around 5 p.m. May 13, a deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office served Michael English, 48, with an order of protection on Seymour Avenue. Shortly after, the deputy attempted to arrest English on an arrest warrant for the strangulation of a household member. English responded by placing a stranglehold on the deputy, leading to a struggle according to booking sheets.
Four grams of meth found in traffic stop; felony charged
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A traffic stop led to the arrest of Bobby Neal Jolly, 37, on Saturday, May 11 for felony drug possession. Officer Penhale observed Jolly’s vehicle failing to use a turn signal while turning onto Evans Avenue from East 18th Street. Both the driver and a passenger exited the vehicle hastily when the officer turned around to investigate further.
Police department proposing increase of $1.1M for officer salaries, $393K for administration costs to city’s FY25 budget
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The cost for police wages, pensions and administration services is expected to increase during the next fiscal year. This is according to Cheyenne Police Chief Mark Francisco, who went over the department’s budget proposal during a city budget session Thursday. Since May 8, leaders with the City of Cheyenne have been meeting to discuss the city’s proposed $147.6 million budget for fiscal year 2025, which begins July 1. Several city departments, including Community Recreation & Events, the Mayor’s Office, the Cheyenne Police Department and Cheyenne Fire Rescue, have been expressing their budget requests throughout the past week.
