HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Shoppers and sales associates might notice some familiar faces staring back at them from boxes of Cheerios as they walk down the cereal aisle at the ShopRite Village Supermarket.
ShopRite Associates Dina Sandford, customer services manager, and Linda Shemeley earned their spot on Special Edition boxes of Cheerios in recognition of their in-store efforts to fight hunger. Also included in the photo is Bill Miliotis, store manager.
Associates at the ShopRite of Hillsborough raised nearly $10,000 this year for local food banks.
Sponsored in partnership with General Mills, manufacturer of the popular cereal. the contest recognizes ShopRite team members for supporting regional food banks and fighting hunger in the communities they serve.
ShopRite Village Supermarket is located at the corner of Route 206 and Amwell Road.
Associates from other ShopRite stores are also featured on special commemorative boxes of Cheerios which will be unveiled at in-store ceremonies through the spring.
The 52 top fundraising ShopRite stores collected $1.5 million for regional food banks in several states.
Employees selected associates to be featured on the special-edition Cheerios boxes. Each winning store also receives prize money ($5,000 for the top five stores, and $2,500 for the remaining winning stores) to be donated to local food pantries chosen by the respective store teams.
