HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Don’t count out a few storms as the workweek progresses.

After scattered morning showers, we got a break from the rain and a decent amount of sunshine through Tuesday afternoon. The increase in sunshine pushed highs into the mid-80s.

While most of the overnight hours will be partly cloudy, another batch of showers is expected during the morning commute. Lows will be mild, in the mid-60s.

Wednesday brings partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of showers or thunderstorms by early evening. Highs are expected to top out around 87.

Thursday, there will be a Level 2/Slight Risk of severe weather as a cold front presses into mid-Tennessee. Scattered storms are expected, and some thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, large hail, or isolated tornadoes. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

There will be lingering showers and a few thunderstorms Friday morning as the cold front makes its way through the Piedmont, then skies will steadily clear out. Cooler weather is on the way for the remainder of the 7-day outlook. Highs on Friday are going to be in the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies.
