Clark-Willow Lake, Hamlin, Britton-Hecla, Castlewood & Warner fall in semis
YANKTON — For the second time in three years, Watertown is facing perennial power Pierre for the state Class 11AA football championship. The third-seeded Arrows (8-3) secured their spot in the 2026 state Class 11AA title game by getting touchdowns from Hunter Peterson and Tyson Miller in the final five minutes and 10 seconds to rally for a 35-25 semifinal victory over No. 2 Yankton. The late surge lifted Watertown (8-3) to victory in a game that it led 21-10 at halftime. The Arrows won 42-14 at Yankton during the regular season. "I guarantee you not many teams have won twice at Yankton in the same season," Watertown coach John Hodorff said. "It's a tribute to our kids. There were multiple times in the football game they could have given up. It's a credit to all our players and coaches that it didn't happen. We came back, made some plays and won the game." Yankton had won five-straight games since the regular-season loss to Watertown and the Bucks definitely showed they were an improved team. After the Arrows used Holton Schutt's 50-yard return on the opening kickoff to set up Kaeden Himmerich's 34-yard touchdown pass to Miller, the Bucks rallied

'His spirit was fire': Motocross community reveres SD teen biker Reed Boyer
He was known for throwing “no-footers” on his finish line jumps, releasing both feet from the pegs of his dirt bike to completely stretch his legs while airborne, like wings. In motocross racing, Reed Boyer would “amaze people” with his many tricks in the air, said fellow rider Caden Enright, often “throwing whips when you would least expect it.” Reed could even land a “Superman,” Enright says, the iconic aerial trick when a rider launches off a jump, “no feet on the bike, just hands,” like a hero soaring. Reed, a 13-year-old champion dirt bike racer beloved in his hometown of Hudson, South Dakota, and even more so among area motocross families, died Oct. 31 after his bike collided with another while riding near Newton Hills. The second rider, 18-year-old Hunter Gano, also of Hudson, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Funeral services for Reed will be held Saturday in Hudson. “He had a personality with no end and a smile that lit up any room he was in,” said his great aunt Jo Cotton. “Heaven just got a lot brighter and noisier.” A champion on and off the dirt track Reed’s dad, Matt Boyer, said his son was a champion racer, winning
