HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) reported that deputies cleared the suspect involved in a Wednesday standoff .

The VCSO says on May 23, at approximately 10:57 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 4500 block on Emma Drive in reference to a domestic violence in progress. VCSO says a female victim was located by deputies that claimed to have been assaulted and held against her will by her boyfriend, Kenneth Myers. Deputies say unsuccessfully attempted to make contact with Myers at a nearby residence. A search warrant was later executed at the residence  and deputies found he had fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies.

Authorities say the Criminal Investigations Section began processing the scene and collecting evidence which included video evidence from inside the home. Authorities say detectives found the video evidence collected at the scene conflicted with several statements made by the victim. Officials say shortly after the scene was processed, deputies located Myers, on foot in a subdivision adjacent to the Emma Drive address. VCSO says Myers was detained by deputies for questioning and he was cooperative with detectives during their investigation. Authorities note Myers also provided information to detectives that conflicted with statements made by the victim at the scene.

Authorities say Myers’ statement was then corroborated with video evidence from inside the home where the domestic violence incident occurred. As a result, Myers is no longer a domestic violence suspect in this case and was released; however, this incident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office  and charges should be expected at a later time.
