Multiple people arrested following wild pursuit in Hopkins County

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Multiple people were arrested by Kentucky State Police following a wild pursuit in Hopkins County.

KSP states at about 11:36 p.m., on Thursday, a traffic stop was initiated for a traffic violation in Dawson Springs, but the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and led to a chase.

Officials state during the pursuit, gunshots were fired at the trooper from the suspect vehicle.

Officials state KSP had help from the Madisonville Police Department and the Dawson Springs Police Department in arresting the driver of the vehicle, Kristopher Barker, 33, of Hiram, Georgia.

Officials say through an extensive investigation, Tanner Southerland, 32, of Dawson Springs was also arrested. Kirsten Bean, 27, of Dawson Springs was taken into custody on multiple outstanding warrants for unrelated charges.

All three were booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center. Barker is charged with Conspiracy to Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Reckless Driving and No Taillights. Southerland is charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer. Bean is charged with warrants out of Hopkins County for Failure to Appear on drug charges to include: Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1 ^st degree, 1 ^st Offense, Trafficking in Marijuana greater than 5 pounds, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2 ^nd Degree, 1 ^st Offense, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3 ^rd Degree, 1 ^st Offense, Prescription Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container, 1 ^st Offense, Wanton Endangerment 2 ^nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct. Additionally, Bean is charged on another warrant with Possession of Controlled Substance 1 ^st Degree, 1 ^st Offense, Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating Vehicle with Expired Operators License, Careless Driving and Rear License Plate Not Illuminated.
