Hazard and Perry County officials debuted the latest addition to downtown Thursday, June 6, with the unveiling of The Grand Hotel Park, a newly-renovated and versatile space for community events. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the first "Thursdays at The Grand" event, which was open and free to the community. The event featured live music by local artist Ben Fugate, free ice cream for kids, local vendors and more. The new space is located where The Grand Hotel once stood, which burned down in 2015. “It’s been a vacant lot since 2015, and it’s been a long time coming,” said Mayor Donald “Happy” Mobelini. “This is going to be a great place for families to come to. It’s not finished yet; we’ve got a lot more to come. We’re bringing back downtown, and it’s going to be better than ever.”
