HAYS, Kan. (KSNW) — The Hays Police Department will conduct tactical training on Thursday.

The department says their Special Situation Response Team will be training on high-risk building entry. The training will occur from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1011 Fort St. in Hays.

Officers will be in tactical gear and testing tactical equipment during the training. People in the area will see a large police presence and emergency personnel moving in and out of the area during training.

Hays police say due to the realistic aspect of the training exercise they want the public to be aware that it is only training, and there is no threat to public safety.
