FHP: Hawthorne man, 62, dies in three-vehicle crash on US Highway 301

A 62-year-old Hawthorne man died early Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 301 in Alachua County, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Where did the crash happen?

On U.S. Highway 301 at Southeast 165th Avenue, just east of Micanopy.

The FHP report

According to the report, the three vehicles involved in the crash included a pickup truck being driven by a 26-year-old Melrose man, an SUV being driven by a North Carolina man, and a pickup truck being driven by the Hawthorne man.

The Melrose man suffered minor injuries in the crash. The North Carolina man and his passenger, a 74-year-old man, were not injured. The Hawthorne man died in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
