Authorities name person in Polk County fatal motorcycle crash
TOWN OF CLAYTON, Wis. (WEAU) - Authorities are naming the person who died following a motorcycle crash in the Town of Clayton Saturday. According to an updated press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the person who died in this crash was 53-year-old Richard Johnson of Almena, Wis.

Man pleads guilty to obstruction
A Ladysmith man accused of resisting or obstructing an officer after his brother allegedly led a Rice Lake police officer on a high-speed chase through the city pleaded guilty to the charge on Thursday in Barron County Circuit Court. Jacob J. Shimko, 38, appeared before Judge J.M. Bitney and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor resisting or obstructing an officer. Two felony counts of bail jumping were dismissed but read into the record. Bitney ordered Shimko to pay court costs and he was given 60 days to pay or set up a payment plan. An arrest warrant had been ordered for Shimko as he had not appeared on May 8 as scheduled. It was never issued as the defendant appeared in court the next day.
