Gasoline prices have risen about 20 cents per gallon over the past month as spring travel demand and more expensive seasonal fuel blends have pushed prices upward, as is expected this time of year.

But prices in some regions are also facing other pressures. According to AAA, refineries along the West Coast are undergoing maintenance , which could be driving prices even higher in metropolitan areas in California, Oregon, and other nearby states.

At the same time, oil prices are reaching their highest levels since October, driven upward by production cuts from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and concerns about conflicts in the Middle East and Russia.

“The West Coast is likely to see gas prices continue to jump, and in a week or so, will be joined by the mid-Atlantic and Northeast states as they wrap up the transition to summer gasoline,” GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan said in a statement Monday.
