Memorial Day, veterans, once again remembered in Williamson
The AIM Group (Action in Mingo) held its fifth annual Memorial Day commemoration Monday, May 27, in downtown Williamson. Aside from a culminating parade, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 141 from Belfry, Kentucky, placed the ceremonial wreath at the Veterans Memorial Monument adjacent to the Mingo County Courthouse and members of the Belfry High School ROTC presented colors. Area veterans and/or their family members were also individually recognized. “We are very patriotic and a few of us have an opportunity to show it by having this very special event each year,” AIM President Jada Hunter said. “We want to show the people in Mingo, Pike and Martin counties that we appreciate their service, and that our hearts are with those who lost loved ones.”
