This Classic Massachusetts Diner Makes One Winter Dish So Good It Is Worth A Road Trip

Hot roasted turkey gets piled on Texas toast, then buried under stuffing and gravy. Mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce ride along on the side. That is basically Thanksgiving, folded into one plate and served any day of the week. The dish carries a family name, too. It’s called Grandma Elsie’s...

Sam Diego's auction date set as restaurant closing | Exclusive

Sam Diego’s Mexican Cookery and Bar is done. “We have not sold the business as Sam Diego’s so Sam Diego’s as a restaurant business will be closed on Nov. 14,” said Clarke Buchanan, one of several friends who started Sam’s in 1982. An auction of Sam Diego’s artwork and other decor will be held Nov. 20 to Dec. 2. The auction will be run by Local Liquidation Auctions out of Arizona. They are photographing auction items and writing descriptions now for the online auction. Those who win auctioned items should expect to pick them up at the restaurant on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4, Buchanan said. “There is stuff that’s worth collecting. We have a lot of original artwork by (Barre) Pinske … papier-mǎché by Sergio Bustamante, a Mexican artist, painted cow skulls.” Links to the auction will be available through Sam Diego’s social media. There are plans to auction pretty much all the decorations except the Sergio Bustamante moon. The Bustamante sun, which visitors like to photograph, will be sold. It was damaged years ago by college kids trying to take it off the wall for photos, but repaired by Cape Cod artist Cristina (Cris) Reverdy, Buchanan said. Located

One sandwich shop on Cape Cod rolls carved turkey, herb stuffing, and cranberry into a pita. Then it names the whole thing after a Mayflower passenger. I love that. Lunch becomes a tiny history lesson. That clever roll-up has company in Massachusetts. One diner on this list operates out of...

The eggnog is sold by the quart and pint in both plastic and glass gift jars. A quart costs $6. It's been an annual holiday tradition for about 60 years. The farm started preparing and bottling the drink on-site in Norwell in the last week of October and it's usually sold up to around New Year's. Batches are also made around Easter. Falco and Book put the focus on Garcia's songs The concert, called "Falco & Book Play Garcia," grew from Falco and Book's shared appreciation for Garcia's music. Both musicians are members of the Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters. Their duo draws from Garcia's solo work, the Grateful Dead catalog and traditional songs he performed. With only guitar, bass and vocals, Falco and Book perform without a set list, allowing them to improvise and explore the songs in a stripped-down setting. "Performing this music as a duo allows us to explore the songs and jam in a way that’s unique," Book said. "We typically hear these songs in larger ensembles, but the songs done with just bass and guitar make the melodies and lyrics stand out, without any distraction or
