Feeding America hosts food distribution event in Marquette County Friday
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Feeding America West Michigan is set to help those in need of food assistance in Marquette on Friday afternoon. The pantry is located at the Berry Events Center on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Distribution begins at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. Anyone unable to physically attend can have a proxy or stand-in pick up food for them. However, space is limited.

Spotty rain chances this weekend with cooler air ahead
Throughout the weekend some areas could see spotty rain chances Saturday afternoon and in parts of Sunday. As the weekend progresses cooler air moves in with temperatures in the 50s for Sunday and Low 60s on Monday. But as the week progresses more seasonal air moves in by Wednesday with temps in the 70s, rain chances will also rise and some could see isolated thundershowers Tuesday evening.
Upper Michigan Today bikes the Iron Ore Heritage Trail in Negaunee

Driver in 2023 Republic Township rollover crash sentenced to 1 year, 11 months in prison
MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - The driver who was arrested after a rollover crash in Republic Township on Memorial Day weekend last year was sentenced to prison on Friday. Aurora Lillian Saterstad-Scott, 24, appeared in the Marquette County Circuit Court on Friday after pleading guilty to one count of operating while intoxicated. Hon. Andrew Griffin sentenced Saterstad-Scott to one year and 11 months in prison.

Potulny era ends at NMU hockey
Grant Potulny has stepped down as head coach of the Northern Michigan University (NMU) hockey program. In a release from NMU athletics on Tuesday morning, it was announced that Potulny was leaving the program to pursue a position at the professional hockey level.
Suicide prevention organization attends UP Pride Festival
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Over 40 nonprofit vendors offered medical and mental health resources at Saturday’s annual U.P. Rainbow Pride Festival. The festival’s Board of Directors Chair, Lex Exworthy, said the Pride Fest ensures people know they aren’t alone. Exworthy said the world isn’t always accepting of LGBTQ+ people.
