    Office of Inspector General releases preliminary report, body camera footage of Hartford officer shooting at man

    HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General released its preliminary report and body camera footage Wednesday of an officer shooting at a suspect Saturday in Hartford.

    According to the report, Officer Devanand Budhoo responded to a report of a hit-and-run around 12:13 a.m. on Wethersfield Avenue. During the investigation, Officer Budhoo heard gunshots that appeared to be coming from a house across the street.

    Investigation underway after Hartford officer fired weapon

    The officer then saw a man, identified as 30-year-old Jimmy Muriel, running out of the front door followed by another man, identified as 34-year-old Luis Ortiz, who was shooting at him.

    Officer Budhoo then returned fire. The report said no one was hit during the shooting.

    Ortiz was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm and related charges.
