HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Students from all over Connecticut got the chance to explore 50 Connecticut-based manufacturers and organizations on Wednesday.

State leaders gathered at the capitol to host the 5th annual Manufacturer ConneCTion Fair and the inaugural College Career and Internship Fair.

Organizers said the goal was to spread knowledge and interest about careers in advanced manufacturing in Connecticut.

Over 1,100 students came and some also got the chance to do on-the-spot interviews.

“Connecticut has a vested interest in manufacturing — as a matter of fact, we’re the only state in the country that has a chief manufacturing officer,” said David Salonia, with Goodwin University. “He has been very active in trying to get not only businesses but also relationships with schools.”

Wednesday’s event had exhibitions from seven Connecticut robotics teams as well.
