Day to Honor Our Loved Ones hits home for Janell Santana Sims
MAYBROOK – Janell Santana Sims lost her father, Oswaldo, to a fentanyl and tramadol overdose three years ago yesterday. To honor him, Sims and other advocates started the Annual Day to Honor Our Loved Ones in Walden. It serves an event to support those who have lost someone to a drug overdose and residents battling addiction.

Sojourner Truth statue to be exhibited in Kingston, Newburgh
NEW PALTZ – “Sojourner Truth: First Step to Freedom, 1826,” a bronze statue of the 19th century civil rights activist with deep Hudson Valley roots, will be temporarily exhibited at Kingston City Hall later this year, and then a site in Newburgh that will be named at a later date, before being installed permanently on the SUNY New Paltz campus in 2026.
Playwright Brings a Taste of Dinner Theater Back to Westchester
Elise Milner has been bringing back morsels of dinner theater to northern Westchester – while having a blast getting it done. Milner, a Mohegan Lake-based playwright and founder of Hanging Cow Productions, which present professional theater including Off-Broadway productions in Manhattan, is presenting the next in a series of comedic interactive dinner theater shows this Friday evening at Taormina Trattoria in Peekskill.
