Baldwin holds decision day
BALDWIN - Baldwin high school held their annual decision day on Friday where members of the senior class announced where they would be going after graduation. The event is run my promise zone coordinator at Baldwin, Brandon Childress. Every student who applies to college received a laptop, and a few students received scholarships and chords to wear at graduation. One student, Miles Marsh-Robinson, is heading to GVSU to study art and sociology. “Throughout the senior year, I’ve really gotten into sociology and it’s something I pursued for my dual enrollment classes at West Shore, and I’m going to pursue that at GVSU since they’re offering me a great scholarship as well.” Said Marsh-Robinson. Another senior, Blake Anderson will be attending NMC and will study aviation.

Motorcyclist in hospital after speeding and crashing at roundabout, deputies say
TRAVERSE CITY — A motorcyclist is in the hospital after a high-speed chase, according to Grand Traverse County deputies. On May 5 at 8:20 p.m., deputies spotted the motorcycle speeding north on Garfield Road in Garfield Township. Deputies activated their emergency lights near the intersection of Garfield Road and Boon Road, then they say the motorcyclist sped up and turn onto Parsons Road, they said. Deputies called off the pursuit as the motorcycle reached speeds of up to 90 mph. According to deputies, the motorcyclist crashed while taking the roundabout at Parsons and Airport Access Road. EMS was dispatched, and the operator was taken to Munson Medical Center.
22-year-old killed in Grand Traverse Co. crash
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that 22-year-old Samuel Dekuiper from Grawn was killed in a crash on May 3. Deputies said the crash occurred on May 3 at 4:32 p.m. on County Road 633 Near Miller Road in Mayfield Township. Numerous fire, rescue, and emergency services were sent to the scene, deputies said. The initial investigation found that a pickup truck traveling north on County Road 633 driven by a 26-year-old man from Imlay City struck a car traveling south driven by Dekuiper, deputies said. The collision occurred in the southbound lane of County Road 633, they said. The sheriff’s office accident investigation team responded to the scene and assisted investigating deputies in determining contributing factors and cause of the crash, deputies said.

MESICK - The Mesick Bulldogs erased an early four-run deficit to score an 8-7 non-conference win in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader with former league rival Suttons Bay on Thursday evening. The Bulldogs won game one, 14-1. In the second game, the Bulldogs got on the board first with an RBI single by Jayden Simpson in the bottom of the first. Suttons Bay responded with an offensive explosion in the second inning, plating five runs to take a 5-1 lead.
