The Charming Little Diner In Minnesota That Serves Breakfast So Good You’ll Think You’re Dreaming
There are places you eat, and then there are places you experience, and Nick’s Downtown Diner in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, is very much the second kind. It’s the kind of diner that makes you want to call someone you care about and say, “Drop everything, we need to go here right now.”

Thanks for signage, hike the trails
I just got back from a nature walk with my dog and noticed all the new signs on the trails behind Holzinger Lodge. There’s an entrance sign that has a colored coded map showing all the trails, biking and hiking etiquette, and trail apps. There are also updated maps, intersection markers, and directional signs that have been deployed by the city and the Winona Area Mountain Bikers (WAMB). I encourage everyone to make use of these trails. There was only one other person there besides me today (on a Monday). We are so blessed to have hiking and mountain biking trails in our city. When I was a child, my friends and I went hiking to Devil’s Cave and Kitchen Cave all the time. We had so much fun. That was before there were maintained trails. WAMB has done an outstanding job of maintaining the trails. They are to be commended. If you have children, how about taking them hiking? I saw a deer last week, a chipmunk, and a badger while hiking behind the cemetery. The trail to the quarry is especially nice as it winds through what I call the fern forest. If you don’t have children, take yourself hiking! Or give mountain biking a try. Thank you WAMB and the city of Winona for the beautiful signs.

This Minnesota Burger Joint Started as a Humble Peanut Bar, and Its Wild Burgers Taste Even Better Than They Sound
Some of the best meals in Minnesota hide behind a plain brick storefront and a name that makes you laugh out loud. I walked in expecting a quick burger and walked out still thinking about peanut butter on beef and a ketchup made from blackberries. The floor crunched with peanut...

Local musicians offering free concert at Owatonna Arts Center
The Owatonna Arts Center has brought multiple talented musicians to the community this season. This weekend, however, it’s showcasing artists from the local talent pool. The arts center is hosting an afternoon of chamber music Sunday, featuring a quartet of musicians with close ties to the Owatonna music community. The event is free and open to the public, and donations will be shared by the arts center and the musicians. The program includes pieces by Brahms, Handel and Rachmaninoff. Local musicians, from left, India Enter, Caroline Bauer and Gabriel Bauer are set to perform a chamber music concert at the Owatonna Arts Center with Constance Goslar, longtime piano accompanist for OHS choir. Enter, who organized the concert, said it’s a way to offer something back to the community that launched her musical career. For local cellist India Enter, it’s an opportunity to offer something to the community when her musical journey began. “I just wanted to provide another event to the community that has really great performers who really want to share music with people. Everyone that’ll be playing on the program loves music and loves to share it,” said Enter. Enter credits the summer music program at Owatonna Public
