From the start, as Connecticut’s correction ombudsman, DeVaughn Ward wanted the Inmate Legal Assistance Program contract canceled. He filed a complaint with the State Contracting Standards Board. He subpoenaed the law firm that holds the contract, Bansley Law, and when the firm didn’t comply, he went to court to compel it to do so. Ward dangled the possibility of filing a grievance against the firm’s principal, Walter C. Bansley IV.

Some of these Republican legislators served well over a decade. They were all defeated on Election Day.
Back in the days when people named Rowland, Rell and Malloy called the governor's mansion home, Democrats had one path to earning that prized lodging: Sweep the cities. The rest of the state? Election maps showed a sea of red with here and there a few cities, suburbs and university enclaves breaking up the Republican landscape.

Volunteers run this drive-in, and it has handed more than half a million dollars to local groups. That’s a lot of good done with popcorn and a giant screen. The theater first opened in 1955 with a double feature. It went dark in 2002, and then neighbors stepped up...
The 2026 elections are over and a "blue wave" hit Connecticut, similar to much of the country. Gov. Ned Lamont won by a large margin, as did the five Democrats Connecticut will send to Congress and eight state Senate seats were flipped from Republican to Democrat - one for the first time in 60 years.

For eight years I worked as a nurse at one of the major hospitals in our area, on a med-surg floor and in ED observation. I saw the same moment again and again. An older patient was medically ready to go home. And the family was standing at the bedside asking, quietly, whether Mom would be safe, and whether she would fall again the minute she got back to her own kitchen.
Scott Francis and Mike Fabbri own this Litchfield County home, along with their two dogs Dart and Daeny. That’s what Mike Fabbri and Scott Francis did to lock down their Litchfield County home, as seen in the pages of CTC&G.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut said on Friday that he has been discharged from the hospital after suffering a stroke last weekend and will miss “several weeks” of votes in the Senate as he recovers in a rehabilitation facility. Murphy, 53, said in a statement that doctors are “very encouraged by the progress I've made so far" and that the stay at the rehabilitation center will get him back to work on the quickest timeline possible. Murphy said doctors diagnosed him with a small hemorrhagic stroke, which is a bleed in the brain. He said he called 911 on Oct. 31 out of an abundance of caution after feeling that “something was not right” with his body. “This has been a scary experience for me and my family, and I appreciate the continued respect for our privacy,” he said. The press release updating Murphy's condition included a statement from Dr. Jose Suarez, chief of neurosciences critical care at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Suarez said the senator has shown tremendous progress and “we expect that he will make a full recovery following rehabilitation.” In the Senate, Murphy serves on the Appropriations Committee and is a leading voice

FARMINGTON — Farmington voters won't be asked about new firehouses in East Farms and Unionville, and a bigger station in the village, until fall 2027. On Friday, Oct. 30, the committee planning the $30 million to $35 million project agreed to skip a spring or summer vote. Members said the volunteer chiefs need time to work out what each station requires, and the architect needs time to land on a price that holds. Waiting has its own cost, the architect warned: steel is getting scarce and expensive, and his firm is hearing that data centers are the cause.
