    Victim critical after ‘significant head wound’ in Hanford

    HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – One person is in the hospital following an assault in Hanford which resulted in what police described as a “significant head wound” being inflicted on the victim.

    Officers say they were called shortly after midnight on April 25 to a report of a disturbance at 920 E. Lavey Boulevard. Officers were told that a male suspect was attacking the victim. They found the victim unresponsive with a significant head wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

    According to the Hanford Police Department, 36-year-old Gustavo Coronel of Lemoore had been involved in a fight with the victim and struck the victim with “a penetrating object.” Coronel fled the scene but was arrested the next day.

    Coronel was booked into the Kings County Jail.
