There is hope for the 140 New Jersey districts, many in Central Jersey, impacted by a reduction in state aid for the upcoming school year. Gov. Phil Murphy has signed into law a bill that restores a portion of the school aid cuts and allows property tax levy cap flexibility for districts that have seen an overall decline in state aid in recent years.

Lane closing this week on I-78 West at Phillipsburg toll bridge
Traffic this week is being reduced to two travel lanes at the Phillipsburg toll bridge on Interstate 78, heading into Pennsylvania. The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is shutting down the single lane from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday. The travel restriction begins with a tapered merge on the bridge’s I-78 westbound approach in New Jersey and continues with two open lanes across the bridge into Pennsylvania.

Easton mayor announces new director of planning and codes
The City of Easton has selected Dwayne Tillman as its director of planning and codes, effective immediately. Tillman has been serving as the acting director for a few months, and Mayor Sal Panto Jr. held a press conference on Monday announcing Tillman’s permanent appointment.
