Collins hosts Air Force Secretary at Bangor Air Force Base
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Senator Susan Collins hosted the Secretary of the Air Force, Frank Kendall, at the Bangor Air National Guard Base’s 101st Air Refueling Wing Friday. Kendall got a look at the facility, spoke to over 650 servicemembers, and got a sense of the refueling operations at the base and its importance to other U.S. military operations.

Holden historical building on the mend
HOLDEN--The former Holden Town Hall building, which sat vacant for years, is back open once again. The building, which was built in the late 1800s, is located on the Main Road in Holden. It is owned and maintained by the Holden Historical Society. Years ago, town meetings and social gatherings were held inside the two story building.
Waldo County Tech student makes planters for town of Brooks
2024 Belfast High School graduate Kalli-Alexis Daley, a student in Waldo County Technical Center’s (WCTC) Building Construction program, recently built planters for the town of Brooks. This project was organized by WCTC’s Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) Program, which connects Tech Center students with local businesses to explore career opportunities.
Johnsons receive John Walker Award
Longtime Democratic activists Christopher and Valarie Johnson of Somerville were presented with the John Walker Award during the 2024 Maine Democratic State Convention on Saturday, June 1, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. They were honored for their tireless efforts and years of volunteer service to the LCDC, their community in Somerville, all of Lincoln County, and to the state of Maine.
