The Monroe County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified the woman fatally shot and man who was severely injured inside a Hamlin home last week.

Deborah C. Poprawski, 71, of Hamlin, was found dead inside a home on the 1300 block of Monroe-Orleans County Line Road on Thursday afternoon, said sheriff's spokesman Deputy Brendan Hurley. Her husband, John H. Poprawski, 72, also of Hamlin, remains in critical condition at a local hospital, he said.

Emergency responders were called to the home around 2:25 p.m. Thursday to investigate the death of a woman, deputies said. Inside the home, deputies said they found a man who had suffered a serious injury. Deputies did not disclose the nature of John Poprawski's injury.

Authorities described the fatal shooting as an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Further details were not released.
