Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain Seeks New Owner as Landlord Plans to Double Rent for the Property
The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain could close next year because the building owner is demanding a rent increase, unless a new owner buys the venue. “I'm hoping to have somebody else take it over,” said Jay Balerna, who started managing the live music venue with his brother, David, in 1987, according to The Boston Globe. Balerna has owned the property since buying his brother out in 2011.
