Chillicothe chamber launches job board with 1,600 openings
A new online job board launched for the Scioto Valley region aims to give job seekers a single place to find local employment opportunities while helping employers promote open positions in real time. The Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce announced the new resource, powered by RollieJobs, on Oct. 6, according to a community announcement. At launch, the platform includes more than 500 employers and more than 1,600 open positions. Chamber officials said listings are updated automatically as employers post openings, helping reduce outdated or duplicate job postings. "This is exactly the kind of resource our investors have been asking for," said Mike Throne, president and CEO of the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce. "It gives local businesses free, real-time visibility for their open positions, and it gives job seekers a much easier way to find opportunities right here in our community." Features focus on current openings and employer discovery The job board allows users to browse companies directly, review the number of open positions at individual employers and filter listings by industry. Additional features include automatic updates of job postings and résumé matching. Users can upload a résumé and receive a ranked list of employers that align with their experience.

WORLD’S LARGEST MINERS BUCKET Miners Memorial Park, McConnelsville, Ohio
Near the southern end of Jesse Owens State Park at Miner’s Memorial Park sits “Big Muskie Bucket”, the largest single-bucket digging machine ever created. It was so big that, starting in 1967, it had to be built on site at the mine. Two years, 300+ railcars and 250 truckloads of materials later, the 240-ton digging machine was finished, and it began coal production. The big scoop could grab 325 tons of earth at one time in a single scoop. It ran 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, until its last usage in 1991. In one photo, a local high school band fits entirely into the big bucket.
