Officer narrowly escapes harm when police car goes up in flames
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - It was scary night for a young officer from Hamburg Police Department when he narrowly escaped serious harm, or worse, after his patrol car caught fire. "The officer who is involved in it is obviously shaken," said Hamburg Police Chief Anthony Kuklinski. "It's not every day of the week you drive down the road and your patrol vehicle you're assigned to breaks into flames."
Local nonprofits work together to provide employment opportunities
Two Berks County nonprofits are coming together this summer to provide a new employment opportunity for students and adults with developmental disabilities. John Paul II Center for Special Learning, Shillington, will be operating the snack bar at the Maple Springs Pool, Birdsboro, which extends JPII’s Work Experience program into the summer as part of its Extended School Year Program.
