More than 700 cyclists flooded the North Shore to complete the Haleiwa Metric Century Ride and some even had the option to run the full 60 miles.

Cyclists started the ride at Kaiaka Bay Beach Park between Waialua and Haleiwa. According to the Hawaii Bicycling League, participants rode through Camp Erdman back to Haleiwa, out to Hauula Beach Park, then turned around to finish at Kaiaka Bay Beach Park.

Officials noted that this event was not a race, but a bike ride that helped participants meet their personal goals and promoted riding bikes for health, recreation and transportation.

The group took off at 7:30 a.m. and raced against the clock to cross the finish line before Kaiaka Bay Beach Park closed at 2 p.m.

Those who wanted to participate in a lighthearted ride had the opportunity to complete the Haleiwa Aloha Fun Ride.

The ride offered either a 3.2-mile or 7.5-mile bike ride along the North Shore, perfect for keiki and their families.

Participants were supported the entire way with multiple aid stations that provided drinks, snacks, and mechanical support.
