GROVER BEACH, Calif. – 5Cities Homeless Coalition (5CHC) is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony today for the grand opening of Balay Ko on Barca, their second transitional housing project.

5CHC partnered with the County of San Luis Obispo and the City of Grover Beach to launch the tiny community. Balay Ko on Barca has 30 units to house people who are impacted by homelessness. The program is intended for a transitional period of 90 to 180 days to help people with basic essentials, health resources, job stability and permanent housing.

5CHC was successful with their launch of Cabins for Change in 2022 which has seen a 70% success rate in permanent housing transitions. The need seen in the county motivated their newest community on Barca to help people bridge the gap between homelessness and stability.

The community will accept pets, has laundry, showers and and onsite host. The waiting list for Balay Ko on Barca is already over 200 people.
