GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Fentanyl was found in Ella T. Grasso Technical High School this week, according to the Communications Director of Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS)

Director Kerry Markey said the substance was tested by state police and positively identified as fentanyl.

Markey said the area where it was found was professionally cleaned the same evening and the person who brought the fentanyl into the school has been identified.

School leaders said they are being “very proactive and providing education” to both students and staff regarding the risks of fentanyl and other drugs.
