Floral Fantasy: A blooming CAGC Success

The Cynthia Ann Garden Club had its April meeting/Flower Show on Thursday, April 25, at The Groesbeck Woman’s Club at 1 p.m. Everyone, thanks to the guidance and help from Jana Tate and Julia Morton, who were on the Flower Show Committee, had set up their kiosks for the flower show by then and they were amazing. The theme this year was Floral Fantasy. The hostesses for the day, Bethany Bonnet, Nancy Harrell, Carolyn Hughes, and Dorothy Ham, had taken care of the refreshments with their Flower Show-themed decorations. The main table was covered with a navy blue tablecloth bordered with greenery and pink flamingos. In the center of the table was a beautiful hanging basket of pink and purple petunias in a festive wicker basket. On red platters were Pecan Sandies and Palmiers, which were both delicious on total opposite sides of the spectrum of sweet and savory. We had ice cream floats of our choice of Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, or Root Beer, or just tea to drink. The glasses, dishes, and napkins were light pink, and the utensils were white, all to go along with the border on the tablecloth and the wicker basket, which was part of the centerpiece. We sure enjoyed their offering to us. We voted on which kiosk would win in the three categories of the Flower Show. The winners were: Most Creative – Enchanted Forrest by Cecily Ball, Most Original to the Theme – Cinderella by Carolyn Hughes, and Best in Show – Tea at the Adolphus by Kay Alston. We enjoyed looking at all the flower show offerings and surely enjoyed the refreshments and our time together.
