Dunkin’ will soon be opening a new store located in Schererville, IN. A local franchisee of Dunkin’ has purchased land located at 275 US. 30 which is located next to the Dairy Queen just east of Austin Avenue. It will be located on an endcap drive-thru of a new retail center that the franchisee will be constructing. The plans are to break ground in 2023.

SWAT Standoff Sunday in Hobart Results in One Death, One in Custody
HOBART, Ill. – A tense SWAT standoff in Hobart, Indiana ended tragically on Sunday with one person dead, officials confirm. The incident occurred on the 1700 block of Old Ridge Road after reports of gunshots were heard. Eight people were transported to local hospitals by multiple ambulances Saturday night around 8:30 PM in Munster. A two vehicle crash on the corner of Calumet & Ridge sent one car into a pillar at the Old National Bank injuring 8. A mutual aid EMS box alarm was called sending ambulances from neighboring communities including Hammond, Lansing, Thornton, and Superior Ambulances.

“Highland Public Schools on July 1, 1950 became a part of the Highland Community Unit School District #5. The unit consisted of Highland, Grantfork, Alhambra, New Douglas and Pierron school districts and those school buildings were used, plus the Tontz Country School in the Grantfork district and Purcell Country School in the Alhambra district. (All other Country Schools in the Unit were closed or had been previously closed.)
