They came, they scored runs, they conquered.

Centennial softball was all smiles after Spring Break perfection, notching a trio of wins against some talented opponents and maintaining their gaudy, top-of-standing preseason rank.

At the Nelson Spring Break Tournament, held Monday-Tuesday, March 25-26, the Eagles didn’t back down against some stout competition. The No. 3 ranked squad in 5A ball downed a trio of 6A opponents.

First they routed Clackamas 15-4 in a breakfast bout; then they squeaked past McDaniel 5-4; and finally they bested Lake Oswego 6-2.

All aspects of the game were clicking for Centennial (6-1). The pitching by senior captain Peyton Davis was blistering, and her defense continued to back her up admirably whenever a hit would sneak past. Meanwhile the bats were active, allowing the dangerous base runners to get to work stealing their way home.

Next on the schedule is a home game against Sandy at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5.
