    Pro soccer: Greenville United back on the pitch for friendlies

    Greenville United kicked back into gear on Wednesday night with its first friendly match of the new year.

    The Bucks played host to Salem City FC and played to a 1-1 draw at John Paul II.

    It was the first match in a busy week for the club that culminates on Saturday night with a charity match at home against Hickory FC.

    The match is set to kick off at 7 p.m.

    United defied the odds and went undefeated through the entire regular season in the National Premier Soccer League last year before bowing out to Alexandria Reds in a marathon playoff match.

    After Saturday, the Bucks host Le Riverry for a friendly match on May 18 and play Lionsbridge May 19 in another friendly.

    GUFC takes on Charlottetown Hops in a conference match on May 24 before facing Tobacco Road in a friendly on May 29.
