Residents looking to renew their license plates or take care of title transactions have one fewer spot to do so after a Greenville office closed last week.

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency closed on May 2 after the current operator’s temporary contract ended, DMV reported.

The agency, at 2462 Stantonsburg Road in the Stanton Square Shopping Center in the Medical District, had been operated by Locks6 Platinum Services Inc. and James Locks since November 2023.

A new agency will open under a selected contractor at a later date, DMV said.

In the meantime, three nearby license plate offices offer service Monday through Friday:

    Greenville, 4651 North Creek Drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Farmville, 3672 N. Main St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays.Washington, 251-A Bridge St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

License plate agencies offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 121 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.

DMV said many vehicle services are available online, including property tax payments and registration renewals. To get started, visit MyNCDMV.gov.
