GREENVILLE, N.C. – Bella Wiggins tallied two hits and Alyssa Aguliar hit an early two-RBI single as UAB defeated East Carolina 3-2 to even the series at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates (37-17, 13-13 AAC) saw their six-game winning streak come to a halt as the offense stalled with only four hits on the day.

The Blazers would quickly load the bases in the top of the first, setting up Aguliar’s two-run hit but the Pirates were able to minimize the damage, stranding two UAB runners.

Emma Jackson would reach first on a Blazers’ error and eventually come in to score after beating out a throw to home as Taylor Woodring landed on first with a fielder’s choice to get the Pirates within a run going into the second inning.

Wiggins would hit a triple in the top of the third and score on a sac fly to extend UAB’s lead to 3-1. ECU would go hitless until the bottom of the sixth after a Jackson single but was unable to sustain any momentum as the score remained 3-1 heading into the final inning.

Annie Kate Dalton and Logan Sutton led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles and ECU would load the bases after Anna Sawyer drew a walk. Malea Rolle would hit a sac fly to score Payton Hudson , but ECU would ground out and leave two runners on to end the game.

Olivia Valbak (5-7) picked up the complete game win while Addy Bullis (13-5) gave up six hits in the loss.
