GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Folks gathered at Wildwood Park on Saturday to celebrate the inaugural BBQ, Blues and Brews Festival.

Wildwood Park was where the City of Greenville and many others took part in the new festival. The event kicked off with WNCT’s own Shannon Baker & Sometime Soon. People drove from around the area just to hear them play.

“I love Bluegrass music. For Eastern North Carolina, you can’t beat this band. Whenever she’s around this area, I try to go and see her,” said Stephen Murdoch about Baker and the band.

Built for Comfort was another band at the festival and said it was a perfect day for some music.

“Oh, it’s fantastic. I can’t believe all the people that are here already. I think it’s going to be a tremendously fun day because it already is fun,” said Built for Comfort’s Joe Tronto.

Greenville Recreation & Parks Supervisor for Special Events, Stacey Stanley, said they expected hundreds to pass through, coming for the barbecue, blues and brews.

“Right now, we’re rocking and rolling over at BBQ, Blues and Brews,” Stanley said. “We’re excited for the turnout. It’s a great day out at the park. The sun is out and we’ve had an excellent turnout.”

Organizers said they plan to host this event again next year.
