GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce released a statement on Friday concerning a road closure in Greenville.

The intersection of East Fifth Street and Reade Street is expected to close on Monday. It is projected to stay closed for 4-5 months. Improvements like wider sidewalks, brick crosswalks, site furnishings and street trees are being put in place.

The improvements come from the $42 million BUILD Project that started in August of last year.

Businesses along the streets will still be open.

The City of Greenville will be suspending parking lot enforcement in the downtown area until further notice.
