BAKER CITY — A Utah man is facing multiple charges after a recent traffic stop near Baker City. On Sunday, April 28, an Oregon State Police Trooper pulled over a driver for traffic violations on I-84 near the Baker City Truck Corral exit. The Trooper, suspecting impairment, proceeded to conduct a field sobriety test, during which a concealed firearm was discovered in the vehicle. A juvenile female was also in the car.

Lost but never Forgotten: Pearl Harbor victim from Baker City
BAKER CITY – Over 82 years later, the impact of the December 2nd, 1941, attacks against the United States at Pearl Harbor can still be felt in communities across the nation. Among the 2403 servicemen and civilians that perished in the attack, 429 casualties were aboard the U.S.S. Oklahoma, 388 of which could not be identified. In 2015, however, the Department of Defense began a new effort to exhume these unidentified crew members via DNA analysis with a goal, as written by the Navy Personnel Command Public Affairs Office, “of returning identified remains to their families.” These efforts have continued to pay off, with 356 sailors and marines from the U.S.S. Oklahoma having been identified since 2015, including Baker City native Robert Livingston Corn.
