GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – You may not have to rush to Greenfield City Hall anymore because the hours will be extended to the public.

Greenfield Police Department implements new policing measures

Starting April 1st Greenfield City Hall will extend its hours of operation to Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hours used to be Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

These new hours for City Hall do not apply to the City Clerk’s Office, the Collector or Treasurer’s Office, and the Assessor’s Office. Those departments will close at 4:45 p.m.

Greenfield City Hall gives citizens a place to pay taxes, interact with city officials, apply for certificates, and more.

“I deeply appreciate the city staff embracing this change,” said Mayor Desorgher. “I believe that increasing City Hall’s availability is a terrific step in providing an open and transparent city government for the community.”

The communications director for the City of Greenfield, Mathew Conway told 22News that these changes are for the community, “Mayor Desorgher one of her early term benchmarks was really fostering a city government that was open and accessible for everyone –We want everyone in the community to have a seat at the table so this is a great step in allowing people to conduct city business and extended time.”

Conway says after city officials connected with the community and looked into their needs.
Time restrictions were an issue for some residents as they were not able to make it to City Hall before closing time. He says these new hours give the community more flexibility to come and get the services that they need.
